Resident Artist Auditions Reopened!

Underworld Productions Opera is reopening auditions for the Spring 2013 Resident Artist program. Covers for roles in the New York City premiere of Alessandro Scarlatti’s “Il Trionfo dell’Onore” will be cast from Resident Artists. Covers will have the opportunity to coach Early Music style and ornamentation with the expert Dorian Bandy, who is in demand as an orchestral leader with ensembles across the US and Europe. Covers will have a performance with instruments on May 5, 2013.

Auditions are on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6-8 pm. For consideration, please send your resume, headshot and YouTube clips if available to Gina Crusco at underworldprod@gmail.com. Please prepare two contrasting arias in Italian. An accompanist will be provided at the audition. 

Rehearsals take place mostly on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Friday evenings in Manhattan, with musical preparation by Dorian Bandy and stage direction by Gina Crusco. Orchestra performances with Sinfonia New York are on May 17 at Casa Italiana, and May 22 and May 23 at Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space.

Tuition for the entire program is $850. Some full and partial scholarships are available based on artistic merit and financial need.

Il Trionfo dell’Onore

Alessandro Scarlatti’s only comic opera in its New York premiere.

Cover roles available are Leonora (mezzo); Rosina (lyric mezzo); Erminio (mezzo pants role); Flaminio (tenor); and Rodimarte (bass-baritone).

Cover performance with reduced instrumental forces on May 5 at MOSA; orchestral performances May 17 at Casa Italiana, and May 22 and 23 at Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre, Symphony Space.

Dorian Bandy, music director; Gina Crusco, stage director; with Sinfonia New York orchestra.

There is no chorus in this opera.
